I love the way you turned the Mocking Jay melody into an eerie ring. The beat is nice. I feel like something awesome should have happened, but it didn't. You had a great melody, but i guess i'm used to dubstep drops, so i cant exactly give a perfectly accurate review. Still, very great mixup!

Hyperion666 responds:

yeah , I think I was going somewhere with this and then lost that feeling and just became a hip hop beat, plus I actually just recently started doing dubstep , did not have the right sounds or the knowledge let alone the programs to make them. so, I might go back and re do this into something crazy. But, right now im in creative mode, so I want to push out newer stuff. So, it might be a while for me to re edit my old projects into something new.

My favorite music is maze type music. Like this, the music keeps changing. You add many different things to assist, and it just sounds awesome. Wish i could make something like this.

ApprenticeBlacksmith responds:

Thank you ! I recommend ya to pick up FL studio demo, look some basic tutorials for it and just start making whatever comes up to your mind. First it prolly sounds bit nasty but once you handle basics, try to redo some melodies (example: Download synthesia and use it for recreating the melody you like). That way you can expand your knowledge and wide of melody types/majors/minors and so on.
Eventually you can pretty much just boot up whatever music making program and do pretty much anykind of melodies you like.

I may livestream when composing / fidling with FL studio.
And will answer to the questions etc as best as I can.

The track is messy, but you made it into quite an interesting maze. It changes at every turn, and the ambiance is quite nice. What i mean is, the melody changes so often, and the ambiance fits nicely, and it works! Great job for the organized mess.

ApprenticeBlacksmith responds:

Thank you! ^^
I really had no idea some people would like this.
Only reason I posted it in here was pure fustration of lack of inspiration.

Sorry, but this is definitely not electronic. This isn't really video game either, it's more old style and christmassy. The melody was ok, but the instrument is not something i'm used to.

Adhenoid responds:

Thanks for pointing that out! :)
I really don't know myself about the genre, but I made it digitally and I'd like it to be in a video game, so yeah haha..

This seems more the background of a stealth mission to me, but thats me. Your edited glass breaking sound was unique. All of the ambiance is breaking my head. You have so much of it! Great job on the melody. The effects are too good. The lags are pretty cool.

Though this is not my type of dubstep, it's really nice.
Great job

SoLoR1 responds:

I love your response to this one, thank you soo much for your feedback! In all actuality this isn't Dubstep at all, it is Glitch Hop, I mean it has Dubstep influences but the tempo varies quite a bit!!

I'm glad the music we have put up lately has really intrigued people!! That's all we could ask for!

Very interesting. Seems more like a background song though. This doesn't really get me into the feel of just listening music until about 1:45. Also, i have heard MANY songs like this that have one or two melodies that play at one time with very similar tunes. With this, i really think you need to try something new in the melody instead of just having it repetitive through the whole song. Yes, you had a lot of nice effects and good beats, when the melody is not the background of the song, you REALLY need to create a different melody at some point.

Hope i wasn't too offensive or anything. Just my point of view

etK responds:

I think you're right :)
Most of the time I try to make new things, by any means, but sometimes I have to master the mechanics before breaking them. It's part of the game :) So here I didn't try to make something new, I tried to make mainstream, wich isn't bad in itself I think.
Thanks for your great review though :D

Sorry, this is just me, but i feel like the whole song should have just skipped to 1:21. The first minute and twent-one seconds is just three items and isn't going to keep anyone around for a while. You also made an about 5-7 second loop for the melody. That went through the whole song, and could have changed alot. The ending was a nice touch, as it slowed down.

Melody:

Needs another melody to accompany
The ambiance is good, and should stay
The melody needs to change somewhere

Drums:
The drums were perfect!
Perfect volume
Good beat
In the background enough to be repetitive through the whole song

All in all, 3.5/5

Great. Only thought you should add a resonance to the main at 0:31, so its like...dark while you added the nice space ambiance

SkullDrone responds:

good idea. will look into that.

I am a very different kind of artist...I have many traits. Some of them being that i am a writer, and a slight musician. I dabble in animation every now and then. Right now i am pretty much a nobody, but i hope i can help other people become known on NG.
